Good Morning,
in Fact ist seems to be "one step back" to use brushes instead of a drum Filter (or other high tech mechanical filter stages). But for me most of Waddy's ideas make sense. Perhaps advertising the ERIC as the best system being available is in a way incredible. No doubt drum filters combined with biological filter stages like Helix deliver perfect results in koi pond filtration. But again, everybody should bare in mind the costs involved buying such a Filter system. This dimensions in particular when buying a drummer as a plug an play system with a ready to go biological stage. The Costs are extremely high...
Perhaps it in more diplomatic to describe the ERIC as a "great Value", because its much cheaper than the described system. It is a plug and play system with no party having to be maintained.
An sure: every system has its pros and cons!!!
Having the opportunity i would try the system...
Regards
Chris
